Going against the top-ranked defending Class A state champions in Wilcox County, Bleckley knew they would have to bring their "a" game if they were going to pull out the win. Mistakes though proved costly as the Royals were shut out at home.

BCHS appeared to have an early break as Derrick Farrow's interception of a Nick Marshall pass started the Royals on the Wilcox 47. After getting the ball to the Patriot 39, a fumble on the next play stopped the drive. A BC interception set the Patirot offense up at the Royal 33.

A 31-yard completion put WCHS on the two. One short touchdown run later and Wilcox led 7-0. In the second after the Royals turned it over on downs, Marshall struck for a 66-yard touchdown to put Wilcox up 14-0 with 10:53 remaining in the first half.

Dytrez Nelson returned the ensuing kickoff to the BC 28. A late hit moved the ball up to the 43. Wilcox though recovered a fumble on the Royal 45.

Two plays later, Marshall had his second touchdown pass. The 30-yard completion put Wilcox ahead 21-0. Late in the half, a BC drive stalled near midfield.

Brentine Taylor runs after a reception.

Bleckley tried a fake punt on fourth down, but the pass was picked off. Marshall's third touchdown pass, a 19-yard completiion, made the score 28-0. A Nelson return to the Wilcox 37 to begin the third gave Royal fans hope that they wouldn't be shut out.

Ken Hughes tries to split the Patriot defense.

Ken Hughes had a fourth-down run to keep the drive alive. Though BCHS moved the ball to the eight, Marshall (who also plays defense) picked the ball off and returned it to the BC 14.

These two fans take a moment from cheering on the Royals to pose.

His fourth touchdown pass made the score 35-0. The ensuing kickoff went out of bounds setting the Royals up at their own 40.

The Royal Kingsmen Band peform their halftime show. This year, they are doing a tribute to Elvis Presley.

Despite moving the ball across the 50, an interception stopped the drive. Bleckley finished with six turnovers as they lost 35-0. Brentine Taylor caught four passes for 27 yards. Hughes had 23 yards on 11 carries, Kelton Elvine had 19 yards in eight attempts.

While Vidal Nelson battles with the Patriot offense, a group of Royals including Sasha Farrow stop a Patriot runner.

Region play begins when the Royals host Southeast Bulloch September 10 at 7:30 pm. The Royal Touchdown Club has began its weekly meetings Mondays at La Cabana at 7 pm.
