If Hank Williams Jr were to ask his famous question "Are you ready for some football" to BCMS supporters, their answer would likely be a resounding "Yes!" The BCMS cafeteria was filled with players, coaches, cheerleaders, and supporting family members at Monday's "Meet the Players."

Head coach Mike Lee welcomed the over 200 attendees. Lee said this was something that he wanted to make sure it got done, things like logistics prevented it from happening last year thought it had occurred the past few years. He said the evening was an opportunity for everyone to fellowship and to meet the 2010 team.

The coaching staff was introduced first. Assistants are Gary Arnold, Wes Young, BJ Long, and Dave Wiegert. Cathie Arnold introduced the cheerleaders and said they were looking forward to supporting the team this year. She said often times the squad would do cheers to encourage crowd involvement and asked them to chant along.

As Lee had the eighth grade players assemble to be introduced, he thanked the parents for making sure the players got to practice. Lee encouraged everyone to attend games both home and away to support the team. He introduced the eighth grade team and offered a unique anecdote about each one.

Young introduced the seventh graders. Due to time constraints, he did not speak about each player but did make a point to tell parents that were putting extra focus on the seventh graders development this year. He encouraged seventh grade parents to make sure to stick around for the "fifth quarter" after games concluded.

The fifth quarter is a scrimmage for seventh graders. Young told the story of how Jeremy Marshall scored three touchdowns on his first three touches during last year's fifth quarter versus JR Trippe. A covered-dish dinner was then blessed by Lacy Royal. As people were finishing their meals, Lee spoke about the end zone club.

Like any booster club, the end zone club was formed to offer support to support middle school football like providing food for the players. Lee said depending upon what time they had lunch, it could be several hours before they got to eat again. So it was important for the players to have food before and after the games.

The evening ended with a drawing for door prizes. Bleckley's home opener is September 9 versus Swainsboro. Kickoff is 4:30 pm.
