Thursday wasn't a good day for many children in Bleckley County as school started back. While the end of free days and late bedtimes no doubt was very discouraging, Mount Calvary Baptist had something that made the return to school better Saturday.

The church hosted a "Back to School Bash." Giant slides and a slip and slide were outside to help stay cool. Inside was a unique style of face painting. These designs covered the entire face.

Hot dogs and chips with ice cream for desert made for a good lunch. Free school supplies were handed out. The idea for the party came from a group of church members.

While they expressed dissappointment with the turnout, they understood that other events including opening day for soccer at the rec. department affected turnout. They plan to have the event next year. Though the numbers weren't as big as they wanted, those who attended had fun.

That makes it all worthwhile.
