When Lady Barons head coach Ashley Wood spoke about this year's basketball season being one of the best in recent times for BCMS, it wasn't an understatement. Since re-joining the MGMSAA, neither Bleckley team had won a post-season game before last year.

This season, BCMS, under first-year coach Wood, made it all the way to the region title game before falling to Dodge County. Tuesdday was one last chance to celebrate the year that was with an awards banquet.

Chicken fingers were the main part of a covered-dish meal that also included macaroni and cheese plus a variety of deserts. Woods and assistant coach Latrica Stubbs gave out certificates and t-shirts to all the players. Eighth-graders also received another gift.

Woods spoke briefly, thanking everyone for coming. She mentioned the great season, and how proud she was of the team. She encouraged all the returning players to continue working over the summr and said she wanted all the eighth graders to try out for the Lady Royals next year.
