It wasn't the biggest battle in the world. But that may've been for the best as the heat index in Milledgeville reached over 100 degrees.

The Twister teams for those age groups were part of the action Saturday at the "Battle of the 'Ville" UFA tournament held at Walter B. Williams Park. The 16-U Twisters were undermanned, carrying only nine players due to summer schedule conflicts.

Crystal Ward makes a play at third.

Against the Georgia Heat, a three-run inning had the Twisters down early. Though they'd draw within one, a 3-2 loss sent the team to an elimination game. Against Panic, they were down just 3-0 for much of the game.

But the offense never got on track, and late runs made the final score 6-1, ending their day. A big lead early held for the 14 and under as they began their day with an 8-4 win against the Aftershock. Playing the Warner Robins All-Stars, the Twisters rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to tie the game but lost 7-5.

Katie Selph not only played shortstop Saturday, she also pitched.

Eight was the magic number again in an elimination game, the Twisters beat the Putnam Pain 8-0. Playing against Warner Robins for the title, a Jaycee Selph double gave the team a 2-1 lead. Warner Robins though had a three-run inning as the Twisters fell 5-2. They did pick up a second-place trophy, their first of the year.

The Twisters organzation returns to action July 11.
